Living in a state of change
By Karishma Chawla Chhabria
VUCA – the word for 2020-2021.
Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous. It pretty much defines our economic, business, finance, domestic, national and global environment. This could be applicable to countries, homes, organizations, cities, states and even to small groups.
The VUCA environment requires one to ‘Unlearn-Learn-Relearn’ not once but many times. It needs you to adapt to the ever-changing conditions and evolve at a faster pace.
The current pandemic is a classic VUCA example. The new normal introduced changes that needed us to adapt time and again. Technology is one of the most important tools that come in handy in these times.
To get through VUCA easily, here are a few steps that can help you:
Understand WHY the change
Understand HOW to adapt – Unlearn the old & learn the new
Understand WHAT you need to do at an individual level
Understand WHEN is the right moment to make a shift
Understand WHICH aspects don’t need to change
Understand WHERE is the maximum impact of the current environment
All of the above is possible when you have a growth mindset and not a fixed one. The VUCA will challenge you in every possible way – and the challenge though complex may change and evolve for the better.
It is said that the learnings one can have in a VUCA environment turn out to be life-long lessons that can make a positive difference in the Emotional Intelligence Quotient.
If you feel stuck in the VUCA environment, looking at it this way might help you shift gears with ease and grace.
ONWARD & FORWARD!
